Mission Statement
"To be the leading and most influential Landscaping, Lawn Care and Snow Removal company in Alaska by ethically and professionally providing a wide range of property enhancement services to meet our customer’s needs throughout Alaska for years to come.”

Company History
Kelly Lawn and Landscaping, LLC is an Anchorage based landscape construction, lawn care and snow removal company owned and operated by Colby Kelly. It was founded in 1999, intended to provide honest service, integrity, and hard work ethic. It started with fifteen original customers, a lawn mower borrowed from the garage, and the need for a 15 year old boy to have some spending money. Today, the company continues to grow.

Kelly, LLC has steadily grown from the time Kelly was 15 years old running the company through high school and college. Kelly graduated from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor's in Business: Finance in May of 2007 returning home to Alaska to devote time to Kelly, LLC year round. The name of the company has changed a few times over the years and has become what it is today.

By 2001, the company had about 30 residential accounts and one full time seasonal employee. By 2003, the company’s name was switched to Kelly Lawn and Maintenance and had about 60 residential and commercial accounts with two full time seasonal employees. Landscaping services started at this time by request of customers asking for entry level projects.  By 2007, Kelly, LLC serviced commercial and residential grounds maintenance accounts with 3 crews and provided landscaping service consisting of projects from small one day jobs to installations of new landscapes exceeding $30,000 for custom homes. Snow removal service was introduced in 2007.  In order to learn the business we started small.  We offered snow plowing to all of our residential customers and worked as a sub contractor for commercial properties.

Kelly, LLC currently has over 30 seasonal employees, 4 full time year round managers, and an office staff to meet the needs of our customers. Many of our staff members return year after year which allows us to provide consistent quality and grow responsibly.

To date we provide summer grounds maintenance and snow removal service to more than 50 condo associations and businesses in Anchorage.  We also service over 200 residential customers, many of which utilize our service year round. Our landscaping capabilities meet the needs of our smallest projects to those in excess of $60,000. It has always been our policy, for all of our services, that no job is too small. Larger scale projects are always looked at carefully and are executed only when equipment, manpower, and finances are sure to leave a successful track record.

Steady growth has been due to repeat customers serviced by our dependable staff making it possible to build on our client list each year. We realize that, in Alaska more than anywhere, reputation is everything. At Kelly Lawn and Landscaping we look forward to building our ongoing working relationship you and the rest of the Alaskan community for years to come.

Let us work, so you don’t have to!

I was born and raised in Anchorage, AK. My professional experience is devoted to building Kelly Lawn and Landscaping, LLC since 1999. When I was 15 years old, working from my parent's house on Campbell Lake, I started a lawn company. Each year our customer base in that area expanded and as our transportation methods were improved we expanded our service area. By my senior year in high school, Kelly, LLC serviced about 80 residential accounts.

I graduated from the University of Idaho and returned to work each summer in Anchorage. I started the Landscaping division of the company in 2003 when customers were asking if we were interested in providing additional services with the same quality and reliability they had come to expect from Kelly, LLC.

Becoming an entrepreneur has been full of lessons, learning the industry, responding to customers needs, and working with all the people along the way that have contributed to where the business is today.  As long as Kelly Lawn and Landscaping, LLC is here, I will strive to maintain the same way of doing business that has contributed to our success. That is what I enjoy most about the work I do, no matter how well things are going or how complicated the situation is, the same sound basic principals apply when working together with people towards a common goal.

Thanks for giving us the opportunity.

I was born and raised in New Hampshire. My parents raised me in the small town of Bartlett surrounded by ski resorts and National Forest. I learned at a young age the value of hard work and taking pride in what you do. Whether it was chopping and stacking wood to heat the house or helping neighbors do lawn chores to get a little spending cash, I developed a love for a hard day's work and the feeling of accomplishment.

At the age of 15 I got a job with a local entrepreneur who owned a New England Gift Shop/ Cider Mill and a Masonry business. I spent my summer vacations learning the art and skill of fitting stone to stone to create beautiful fire places, chimneys, farmer's walls, retaining walls, patios, and even a trickling waterfall now and again. I gained an appreciation for the creativity and beauty of natural landscapes and creating beautiful surroundings in people's back yards and living rooms.

After growing up and working in a professional masonry business for 8 years, I began to grow restless and was ready for an adventure. My significant other and I packed our belongings and drove across country and landed in Anchorage, AK. I quickly found work on landscape crews utilizing the skills I already possessed. After a chance encounter with Dan Holland, the Division Manager, and the discovery of mutual friends back in New Hampshire, I found myself putting in full landscapes for Kelly LLC.

After meeting Colby and Dan and seeing the level of professionalism and pride they take in their work I knew I had found a company I would be happy to represent. I spent a year as a foreman for a landscape crew, meeting the suppliers, the customers, and gaining an ever growing knowledge of Anchorage and the surrounding areas. At the end of 2010 I was promoted to Project Manager and began working more in the office. I have settled into my role within the company and enjoy creating natural landscapes that please both customer and installer alike.

By joining Kelly Lawn & landscaping, LLC, I have had the privilege to meet new people, see new places, and create beautiful landscapes for people's homes and businesses. I find my own roots growing deeper and deeper. I have a feeling I won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I look forward to the future with Kelly Lawn & Landscaping and hope to someday to be able to create a new beautiful landscape for your home.

I was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho close to my grandparents. My grandpa owned a farm from which he taught me the value of hard work. He always told me if you’re going to do something, make sure you do it right the first time so nobody has to come back later to fix it. I took that to heart and have always put my best into all I do.

I received my Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Management with an Emphasis in Business Management from Brigham Young University. While a student at BYU, I worked as the lead student for their hardscape Install crew. I was in charge of installing many of the paver patios, walkways, and retaining walls you’ll find all around campus. Once I felt I had a good feel for the construction side of landscaping I decided to apply my talents towards the maintenance side of landscaping. I studied to get my pesticides applicators license and spent one and a half years applying pesticides to BYU’s campus. I found the ability to identify many diseases and pests very valuable and important for my future career but my heart was still in the construction side of landscaping. I finished out my schooling working on the heavy equipment crew at BYU sharpening my skills as an operator in skid steers, mini excavators, and loaders. I always had a passion for working outside and with my hands. I believe that rooted from all the days I spent working side by side with my Grandpa.

While still a freshman in college I decided to take the skills I had learned at BYU and apply them in a summer internship as a foreman with a local landscape company in Anchorage Alaska. While with this company I was a part of installing a couple of commercial projects bid over $600,000 and residential projects that ranged from $2,000-$100,000. I knew after that first summer in Alaska I had chosen the right career path and my passion for landscaping would only continue to grow. What I didn’t realize at the time was Alaska was slowly keeping a piece of my heart as I continued to return four more summers as I put myself through school.

The one thing I love most about Alaska aside from its natural beauty is the friendly people. I have enjoyed all the working relationships I have gained with clients over the past five summers landscaping in Anchorage and couldn’t be happier to now be involved with Kelly Lawn & Landscape. I am impressed with the company’s integrity and how important they value the satisfaction of their clients. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you and help increase the beauty and value of your home.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University in Agronomy and Horticulture with an emphasis in Urban Landscaping Development. While a student at BYU, I worked with the turf management crew to keep what I consider one of the most beautiful campuses in the country in tip top condition. From the rolling hills that adorn the campus to the heavily worn football, soccer and intramural sports fields, I was charged with making sure these green belts were as lush and healthy as possible throughout the growing season. I also worked in BYU's reputable Soil Science Laboratory where I analyzed soil samples from across the globe and made fertilizer recommendations based on each soil's constitutive nutrients. I knew then that turf management and its underlying dependence on soil health were to be my life's passion.

After graduating I returned to the world of turf management as I constructed two new golf courses in central Utah. After leading the entire construction efforts of The Links at Sleepy Ridge (Orem, UT) as the Superintendent of Construction, I continued on with that golf course as the Golf Course Superintendent where I managed this 18-hole course and its grounds with a $500,000 yearly operating budget and 40,000 annual rounds played. It might be an understatement to say that I am meticulous about my grass, which is probably the reason why this golf course was ranked as one of the finest in Utah and one of Golf Digest's favorite new golf courses of 2005.

But my roots in Palmer and call of the wild beckoned me back to Alaska, and I have spent the past four years with Evergreen Nursery in Anchorage managing nursery operations and helping customers like yourself find the right landscaping materials to fit the unique needs of this region. I am so pleased to now be working with Kelly Lawn and Landscaping, and I hope you will be pleased with the quality of work my experiences can offer. I plan to maintain your landscape with as much professionalism and care as I have in all my other landscaping endeavors, and that your landscape will flourish accordingly.

I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and have always loved it here. I have several years of bookkeeping and clerical experience, although I hold a degree in Criminal Justice. After graduating college I wasn’t sure what field I was interested in to put my degree to use, so began looking for clerical work in the interim, which I already had experience with. I found that Colby Kelly was looking for an office manager and it has been one of the best positions I have found myself in yet. I truly enjoy my job with Kelly Lawn and Landscaping and have remained in this position since 2010.

I am always available to help answer questions whether it is regarding landscaping and maintenance applications, snow removal, billing, or service requests. If I do not know the answer, you can be sure that I will find out and get back to you in a timely manner. I take pride in my work and getting to know our customers and their property needs as well as assisting the other mangers with scheduling services, coordinating meetings and tending to their projects.

In the years since I have started with the company, my knowledge of landscaping and maintenance has continued to grow and I find myself enjoying this field of work more and more. I see a long future ahead for me with Kelly Lawn and Landscaping. I look forward to working with you and assisting in any way you may need.
